I'm moving to a smaller place, and have to decide what to do with a
hefty amount of old CACM, and various SIG pubs (mostly TOPLAS,
SIGPLAN, SMAC, a few others off and on), and a bunch of IEEE stuff
(Spectrums, Computers, various other computer related), all mostly
from about 1982 to about 1990. Is there any value to any of these,
and if so where to try to sell them? I haven't seen anything like
this sold on ebay or anywhere online that I have looked. I really
hate to just toss em out, but I can see the market might be extremely
limited, especially the ACM stuff with their CD now out.

Any advice at all is extremely appreciated!

Thanks!

I doubt you can sell them, but you might be able to donate them.

In the past I've donated old journals to local colleges and professional
organizations for their libraries. These organizations always seemed
grateful for the donations.

Jeff,

Has ACM imported these articles / journals into their digital library? if
so, be careful with copywriter
issues. ACM becomes very anal when it comes to the bread and butter of
things.

There are no copyright issues with the transfer of print journals,
since no copying is involved.

IANAL but this is pretty basic.

If you do donate them, ask for a valuation for tax purposes (if
you're subject to US taxes); the donation is US Federal income tax
deductible.
